The first project of our series on great microcontroller creations comes from josephyang5, over at instructables.com. He built a brilliant desktop Pomodoro timer using a Seeduino board to keep track of his productivity. 

Joseph writes that the idea came from trying to use productivity apps on his mobile phone, and noticing that just caused him to get more distracted, because his phone also let's him check email, Facebook, etc. His solution—design a desktop clock whose only function is to track progress towards a goal. See it in action here:
